Archive New York San Juan La Laguna Jaspe Pillow, pastel
This textile was woven by an artisan from the lakeside village of San Juan la Laguna, Guatemala, using a time honored traditional method of weaving called the back-strap loom. The pillow features an intricate Guatemalan tie dye technique jaspé. This particular jaspé design is specific to San Juan la Laguna and represents the pine trees found in that village along the shores of Lake Atitlan.
